Is it my imagination or is Lynette keeping a secret from us all? I’ve noticed now that the twins are older, Porter is looking shockingly like mega-star Matt Damon. Is there something she should be telling us???

The Ladies of Wisteria Lane five years on.

So my friends down on Wisteria Lane disappeared for five years, but what have they been doing? Well Outside the Box tried to find out, and this is what we have discovered about the ladies:

Bree Van de Kamp:

MarciaCrossDuring the last five years Bree has been busy setting the catering world alight. Together with her her partner and friend Katherine Mayfair. Their business has been so successful that Bree has managed to sign a lucrative deal for a book of her recipes.

Catherine Mayfair:

danadelanyLittle is known of Catherine’s exploits during the last five years, but she has never been one who reveals the details of her life… so other then working with Bree, nothing can be found about her actions during the last five years.

Susan Mayer:

Episode 410

Susan’s life has been a whirlwind of activities during the last five years. Not only has she been busy raising baby Maynard, she has been doing a lot of the parenting alone. Yes, sadly Susan and Mike split up, but life can be hard after a car accident where someone is killed. Susan though is still happy and has recently started dating Jackson, a guy so nice even Mike approves.

Lynette Scavo:

FelicityHuffmanHaving survived cancer, and her mother Lynette has been just getting on with life, raising her kids and working in their family business.

Gabby Solis:

EvaLongoriaGabby has been a busy girl! Not only has she had to learn to live with Carlos in his new blinded condition, but she has also had to adapt to once bottomless bank account reaching the bottom. As if this wasn’t enough Gabby has also had a daughter, who from the looks of her chubby exterior, Gabby has been very busy feeding.

Edie Brit:

NicolletteSheridanAbsolutely nothing is known of Edie’s antics for the last five years. In fact I never even noticed she had gone until she reappeared with a new husband in tow a couple of weeks back.

Desperate Housewives… making a fresh start.

OK I have a gripe, a grievance, a complaint. For four years I have been hanging out with these sexy, wacky, fun women on Wisteria Lane. Once a week we have been meeting and going over the events of their dysfunctional but interesting and funny lives. Then five years, and nothing… not a phone call, not a letter, not even a blog entry. Poof gone! Five years of nothing.

Desperate_Housewives Then like magic they are back, acting as if nothing has happened, but I feel cheated. Five years is a long time to pass without so much as a letter to let me know what has been happening. So now here I am just trying to guess, just picking up clues from the girl’s present situation to try and guess what has happened in the five years I have missed.

Yet I am a forgiving man, I am willing to give the girls another go… I just hope they don’t make me regret my decision!

Desperate Housewives… how was I so wrong about you?

When the new series of Desperate Housewives  made it’s debut here in the UK I slated it, I said it was past it’s sell by date, that it didn’t feel fresh…

I was so wrong!

I realised yesterday that I am willingly seeking out airings of this show now, where before I just watched it because that is what the missus watched! Some how the ladies of Wisteria Lane have sucked me back into  their bizarre little worlds, and forced me to once again become interesting in their shallow lives… in fact the writers have found such good form with the scripts for series four that I think the show is almost back to where it was in series one.

…still I wish the producers would axe the ever annoying queen of the cliches, Mary Alice, or at least send her over to the Pushing Daisies  school of narration, her little observations are SO ANNOYING!

Desperate Housewives… Nothing New on Wisteria Lane

Thursday, March 27, 2008 Wesley 2 comments

Season four of my wife’s favourite show, Desperate Housewives kicked off yesterday for British audiences on Channel4. If you missed it you can catch it again on Sunday at 9pm on E4… but the big question everybody wants to know is, ”was it any good?”

TV critics seem to agree that season four of this show is going to be as good as season 1, personally I find that hard to believe, as the first season of Desperate Housewives was pretty darn good, it was funny, fresh and full of surprises. Learning how twisted and shallow some of the characters were during season one is what made it so good… which will not be possible now three seasons on; we already know what the characters are like.

Fresh in the knowledge that season four is supposed to be the best, perhaps my expectations going into the show were a bit too high. Personally I was a bit disappointed with episode one. Nothing really seemed to have changed. The show started with Edie Britt faking suicide to win back her man, and not to give too much away discovering Carlos’ secret, which she will obviously use to keep him. Susan had some strange misunderstanding, Bree is still pretending to be the perfect housewife and going to great lengths to do so, and Lynette well is just Lynette, her character is really only there to justify having her kids on the show (who are the funniest thing about it normally).

There was one shocking surprise though… a new family moved in to the neighbourhood, with a dark secret 8O . Wow nobody saw that coming did they?… perhaps if the show survives to season five the producers can really surprise us and have nobody move in, now that I wouldn’t see coming!

Really the whole show is starting to feel a bit stale, and formulated, but those in the know assure me it is going to be a great series. So I guess I will soldier on, and hope there are some pleasant surprises in store for me… as if I have any choice anyways, my wife is addicted to the gals on Wisteria Lane and their goings on, so I will have to watch it anyhow.

Please though if any writers on the show are reading this could you do me a favour and kill off Mary Alice… I know she is already dead and all but God those monologues drive me crazy!!!!
